I have published a guest post on the The Political Organisations and Participation group blog on the same-sex marriage postal vote / “survey”.*
This post discusses the findings from one of my papers, published in the Australian Journal of Political Science (read the full version) with Andrea Carson and Yannick Dufresne.
In this post (and the paper) we study the policy responsiveness of legislators to public opinion, using same-sex marriage as a case study.
In the last couple of months I have also provided some media commentary on this issue. This includes a piece I wrote for the BBC right after the results were announced. I also provided some talking points for this really well done piece by the ABC (and this one which flowed on from that), and also another story done after the same-sex marriage vote, which is quite similar.
I also spoke to ABC Radio Drive in Melbourne in the early days of the postal vote, but I don’t think it’s online any longer.
